Town Tavern serves up specials all week

It seems like every city in America has a bar called Town Tavern.

I guess there's a good reason, because every Town Tavern I have been to is home to decent food and cheap drinks that cater to a college crowd.

The one located in uptown Charlotte is no different. For a place to have a good time dancing with friends, watching a ball game, or throwing darts, Town Tavern is the ideal scene.

On a Monday night, the bar was light on people, but is known to pack them in on Tuesdays for live music. It was still pretty easy to have a good time in the bar with a group of friends, even though the crowd was thin. An old dart board entertained the guys I was with ... until they lost a dart in the trash can and decided to call it quits.

One of the bartenders spent forever trying to fish it out from under heaps of bar trash. Sorry about that to whoever had to spend time scrubbing down in the bathroom because they were covered in garbage.

One thing is certain, the staff and bartenders at Town Tavern were extremely friendly and the service was quick.

A rum and Coke that night was a typical $5.25, and was pretty strong. To keep the party going, the bartender brought over free cherry shots to the group, hoping we would buy more drinks before moving on to the next venue for the night.

Town Tavern offers great specials and events throughout the week, starting with live music every Tuesday at 9 p.m. Aside from the music, the bar has $2 beer specials and $5 Hendricks specials that night.

On Thursdays, there are $2 Miller Light bottles, $2 well drinks, $4 time machines, $2 kamikazes and $5 Jaeger bombs. And at the end of the week, patrons can enjoy dollar draft Fridays and $5 drink specials.

Bar goers can also check out Town Tavern's sister bar, Kennedy's Premium Bar & Grill, located on the corner of Seventh and Caswell streets.

How can you write a story about Town Tavern and not mention Buffalo, NY? Charlotte has a huge population of Buffalo transplants and this bar is owned by a few of them. Buffalo and the people from there are a core part of this bar and what makes it a unique place in Uptown CLT.

I think people are sick of hearing about Buffalo and want to start something here. where it's better. I like the article. Buffalo sucks.
