Wine Vault great place to unwind

Sometimes it's hard to find a place where you can unwind with a glass of wine and good conversation, but still be in the middle of all the action. For bar goers who often find themselves in this predicament, the Wine Vault in the University City area is the perfect solution.

Tucked beside college favorites like Boardwalk Billie's and Bad Dogs, the Wine Vault is nestled in the center of nightlife, shops and restaurants. The large brick, vault patio that overlooks a small lake and fountain was the ideal setting to spend a summer night people-watching.

For those trying to escape the sticky heat, the Vault has nicely air-conditioned seating indoors. Comfy sofas and plush chairs await those who have struggled with a long day at school or work. Cherry tree blossoms are painted on the walls and inspirational quotes and poetry weave between the branches. To top the tranquil decorations, paper butterflies hang delicately from the ceiling.

A young couple in the corner seemed to get swept away by the Asian inspired decor and spent the night in deep conversation.

On a Saturday night, the patio was bustling and there wasn't a seat to be found. Two guys played live music at the corner of the patio and stuck to mellow tunes like Jack Johnson.

The Wine Vault's choices of wine and bottled beer seemed endless as wine bottles are arranged neatly along wooden shelves along the inside perimeter of the store. My friend and I opted for a cheaper glass of Riesling that cost $4.50 each. The prices seem extremely affordable, especially for young professionals or college students.

At the front glass counter, the store also offers a variety of cigars to accompany drinks, and they give the store the slightest smell of chocolate. Designated smoking areas are provided on the far corner of the patio.

If you're not in the mood for a sports bar scene and rowdy fans, the Wine Vault is the perfect place to meet up with friends for a glass of wine after a long day. This is definitely my new favorite spot in Charlotte.

Wow, memories from 10 years ago came rushing back with this one. The Wine Vault will forever be one of the greatest memories of our young family that we shared on Friday evenings during the summer with our children and friends. There are few places that people can go outside to enjoy an adult beverage, people watch, eat, listen to music and know that your kids will also be safe.

Do you think your supervisors would allow you to write this blog more "conversationally", as opposed to the traditional newspaper review? Just seems like a written advertisement for each establishment. You don't mention a budget either, might help to better understand what your restrictions for writing this blog are. Looks like fun, though! Good luck!

Reads like an article written by a first year college girl trying to get published in the local school rag, with a feel good, overly complimentary review.

This place is loaded with clowns that would be better off ordering a Miller High Life than trying to fake their way through a wine menu and running up a tab on their nearly maxed out credit cards because that's what their cubicle work neighbor did last weekend. Keepin' up with the Jones' is what it's all about.
